Good storage is essential because the value of the feed presented to animals depends on it. Feed spoils during storage -whether it deteriorates quickly or slowly- is partly due to its quality when it is received but very largely on how it is stored.
All types of ingredient, as well as completed compound feeds, require special care during storage to prevent deterioration in quality, and loss. Additionally they are very valuable commodities and need to be subjected to careful stock control to prevent theft. Stock control is also essential for fulfilling the feed needs of the animals adequately and to ensure that you have enough, but not excess, of each ingredient available for manufacture when needed.
Good storage is essential because the value of the feed presented to animals depends on it. Feed spoils during storage -whether it deteriorates quickly or slowly- is partly to its quality when received it but very largely on how it is stored.
Environmental factors, such as moisture (feed moisture content and relative humidity), temperature, light, and oxygen influence deteriorative changes and losses in feedstuffs. These affect the feedstuff either directly or by influencing the rate of development of insects and fungi which consume the feed during storage.
The following are the major factors which affect the quality and weight of feedstuffs during storage: major losses due to human theft, fire and the consumption of scavenging animals, such as rats and birds; damage due to rain and condensation, and to high temperatures; damage by insects; damage by fungi; and changes in the quality of the feeds due to enzymatic actions and the development of oxidative rancidity.

- Storing feed in fibreglass silos
Mario Ardenghi, Export Manager, AGRITECH SRL
We can state that fibreglass silos are the ideal solution for feed storage in humid and salt-saturated atmospheric conditions, such as on islands, peninsulas and in coastal areas, and wherever temperature fluctuations between day and night, summer and winter are particularly relevant.

- Comparative Evaluation of Feed Conservation in Fiberglass and Metal Silos during Summer and Winter Time
Prof. Gianfranco Piva, Agronomist, Catholic University of the Sacred Heart
Agritech srl has entrusted the Faculty of Agriculture of the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, in cooperation with Cerzoo, the Research Center for Zootechnics and Environment of Piacenza (Italy) with a comparative study on the performance of some own-manufactured fiberglass silos and other silos in galvanized metal, produced by Chore Time.

- Healthy Feed Silos
Selman SARIKAYA, Mysilo Grain Storage Systems, Corporate Communication Chief
If we list the advantages of using feed silos; in this method, service is provided directly from the feed producer instead of the feed seller. Silos are filled in a very short time. Therefore, long-term porterage work is not required during feed shipment. It provides different usage areas by discharging the areas used for the feed storage area in businesses.
